![]() ![]() I COULD access sites normally on THIS computer when Vista was installed (though I don't intend to reinstall Vista just to find out if it still works). ![]() I can access sites normally through the router if I'm using a different computer. It can't connect to certain sites at all, and for some others goes extremely slowly.įor clarification: I can access sites normally over ethernet. Now I can connect, but there's a problem. For whatever reason, Wireless Zero Configuration didn't seem to work at all, so I downloaded Intel's software for the Intel PROSet/Wireless 4965AGN (or 3945ABG, but they both use the same drivers and software so it probably doesn't matter). Installing Dell QuickSet got it to show up in the Device Manager. First, it wasn't even showing up as available hardware. The only thing I cannot seem to get working properly is the wireless card. This time I got Everest to help me determine what my computer had in terms of hardware, and slowly got virtually everything up and running again (there are still a few minor problems, but that's not why I'm here). I wasn't really sure what components I actually had at the time, so I downloaded quite a few drivers, none of which worked, so I wiped everything again and started over. From there, I went to Dell's site to download drivers ( here). This was effectively useless, except for the driver that allowed me to connect to the Internet over an ethernet cable. I immediately got to work with the Dell Resource CD, which supposedly had all the drivers for the computer. ![]() ![]() This is relevant because when it was running Vista, Because Vista is more or less incompatible with some of my programs, and all of the components of the computer are supposed to be fully compatible with Windows XP, we formatted the hard drive and did a clean install of Windows XP Home Edition. the built-in wireless card was working perfectly. We recently bought a Dell Inspiron E1505. ![]()
